Dundee United trialist Marley Berkvens will be joined by another possible signing target when pre-season training starts.
Manager Jackie McNamara confirmed Dutch midfielder Berkvens will arrive at St Andrews next Monday, and he revealed there will be another new face, although his identity is being kept under wraps for now.
Both players have been recommended by Pierre van Hooijdonk, the man who pointed fans’ favourite Nadir Ciftci in United’s direction last summer.
“Pierre has said to me he sees something in Berkvens, so I am just finalising the details for him and the other lad to head over next week,” said the Tannadice boss.
“The second player isn’t Dutch but right now I don’t want to give out details about him.
“We will see how they look in training and if they show up well we will think about taking them over to Ireland with us next month so that we can have a look at them in a game situation.”
Meanwhile, a Scotland cap donated by United legend Paul Hegarty is to be auctioned at a fundraising dinner being held by the Frank Kopel Care Group at the Invercarse Hotel, Dundee, on Friday.
Frank died in April after a long battle with dementia. The event host is BBC Scotland political editor Brian Taylor, while former Scotland boss Craig Brown and ex-referee John McKelvie will speak.
