Less than 24 hours after Ryan Gauld sealed his multi-million pound transfer to Sporting Lisbon a bidding war is underway for his former Dundee United team-mate Andy Robertson, with Hull City leading the chase.
Courier Sport understands that United last night turned down a £1.75 million bid plus add-ons from the Tigers. That followed an offer from West Ham United of £1.5 million earlier in the day.
West Brom, Everton and Southampton are all also thought to be tracking the Scotland international.
The Tangerines, of course, have no need to accept an offer below their valuation of the 20-year-old in view of the £2.2m brought in for Gauld.
If any of the clubs pursuing Robertson get close to that mark though, the full-back could soon be on the move.
On the Gauld deal and United’s position on their other in-demand players, chairman Stephen Thompson said: “This was the right deal for the club but we will only sell players if the price is right.”
Meanwhile, Gauld is hoping to return to Dundee in the next few days to say his goodbyes.
It could happen at the weekend, as he was busy with physical testing at his new club on Wednesdayand Sporting’s pre-season training starts on Thursday.
Gauld has agreed a six-year contract and it is believed the release clause has been set at a staggering £48m.
