Hull City fail with fourth attempt to sign Dundee United’s Andrew Robertson
ByIan Roache
Dundee United once again said thanks but no thanks to Hull City last night, rejecting a bid for Andy Robertson worth over £2.5 million.
It is the fourth time the Tigers have attempted to persuade United to sell their flying full-back only for Tangerines chairman Stephen Thompson to tell the Barclays Premier League team their offer didn’t meet his club’s valuation of the Scotland star.
However, that is unlikely to be the end of the matter as Hull manager Steve Bruce has gone on record to say that he is determined to keep going until he lands Robertson and talks are ongoing between the two parties.
Perhaps significantly, the deadline for any new signing being eligible to play in Hull’s Europa League third qualifying round tie against Slovakian side AS Trencin next Thursday is Friday evening.
Meanwhile, the 20-year-old former Queen’s Park player has now returned to Scotland following United’s pre-season trip to the Netherlands ended with a win over NAC Breda on Tuesday.
