Dundee United take Australian winger Nick Epifano on trial
ByIan Roache
Dundee United will welcome Australian trialist Nick Epifano to the club when they report back for pre-season training.
The summer break will come to an abrupt end for the Tangerines when they report back to their St Andrews base tomorrow.
Arriving from Down Under from South Melbourne FC will be 21-year-old winger Epifano, who has a European Union passport so gaining work permits won’t be a problem.
Epifano will then travel with United to the Netherlands next week for their pre-season training camp, during which they will play Vitesse Arnhem on July 10 and Utrecht on the 16th.
His Aussie club boss Chris Taylor expects him to impress United manager Jackie McNamara.
Taylor said: “There have been clubs that have been very, very interested in him.
“He has been given the offer to go to Europe because he has an international passport.
“Dundee United are paying for everything and are taking him to Holland for some games.
“You can’t begrudge the boy for the opportunity.
“He has the talent to go to the next level and we’re only delighted if he does make it.”
