Dundee United defender Mark Durnan is confident that the “results will come” for the young Tangerines.
The centre-back, who scored an own goal in the 3-1 defeat from Celtic on Saturday, was disappointed that United couldn’t get a result on the back of the thrashing by Hamilton the previous weekend, but insisted: “It’s been two bad results, that’s it.
“That happens in football and it’s about how you bounce back.
“The results will come. We’re working hard in training. It’s matches that count and that’s where we’ll be judged but the results will definitely come.
“We all know that last week was not good enough, too many of us didn’t perform and we just had to rectify it.
“We worked hard in training all week to try and get it right for Celtic but unfortunately we didn’t get the result.
“But we’ll go again next week.”
Durnan thanked the home support for their backing as United sought to fight back from the loss of an early goal at Tannadice, and Celtic territorial dominance.
“The crowd was brilliant,” he said. “They gave us lots of cheers when we were 2-0 down and they were encouraging us on.
“We shot ourselves in the foot giving Celtic a couple of goals and when you do that it’s hard to come back and get a result.
“I don’t know if there is too much you can take when you get beaten but we created a lot of chances in the second half and put Celtic on the back foot.
“Maybe if we’d done that in the first half and taken a couple of the chances we had it could have been different.”
