Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara says his team would have deserved all three points in Tuesday night’s Scottish Premiership match against Inverness.
The Tangerines were reduced to 10 men after just six minutes when keeper Michal Szromnik was sent off, with Greg Tansey netting the resultant penalty.
United refused to buckle and gave as good as they got in a tempestuous match which also saw a flurry of yellow cards, and they received their reward in the 74th minute when Ryan McGowan equalised.
ICT also finished the game with 10 men after Gary Warren was dismissed in stoppage time.
McNamara said: “I felt we should have won it. I thought we were the better side and had the better chances in the first half.See also: United ‘conned’ referee claims John Hughes“I thought we were in the ascendancy in the second half and we went to win it. Even at 1-1 we were going for it.
“We wanted to get the winner as it was important for us. The fans played a big part in it.
“I am just proud of the players and the way they responded after the weekend when we were disappointing.
“If we can keep that level up, the commitment and desire we showed tonight with 10 men then we should have a successful season.
“I think we deserved at least a point. We could have had the three points but unfortunately we didn’t.”
The point leaves United seven behind third-placed Inverness with a game in hand and 11 behind Aberdeen, who sit second behind Celtic.
