Managerless Dundee United crashed to the bottom of the Premiership with yet another dreadful display.
On a day when the Tangerines should have been desperate to show they were better than their second-bottom spot suggested, they instead proved they were worse than that by swapping places with Partick Thistle.
Life after departed boss Jackie McNamara got off to a terrible start for United, who were outfought, out-thought and outplayed by a Jags side that hitherto hadn’t won a league match.
Indeed, the three goals the home team scored doubled their tally for the season.
It was unacceptable stuff from the United players and the quicker a new boss comes in the better.
The Tangerines, taken by caretaker coach Dave Bowman, fell behind on 15 minutes when a nice move from Thistle led to Callum Booth’s deflected cross from the left looping up in the visitors’ goalmouth.
United keeper Luis Zwick should have pushed his way through to punch the ball away but instead he allowed David Amoo to run in and head home from close range.
With the Tannadice men getting no foothold in the game, the Jags went 2-0 up on 55 minutes when a cross from the right from Mustapha Dumbaya went straight into the net as Steven Lawless tried to get a boot on it.
Yet another miserable day for United and their 900 travelling fans was finished off by Stuart Bannigan when he drilled a low shot past Zwick from inside the box.
