Striker Mario Bilate cursed United’s lack of luck as they lost out in the final.
Bilate, who is a doubt for Wednesday’s Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against Celtic on Wednesday after hurting a hamstring, said: “We felt like there was more for us to achieve but I think we were a bit unlucky.
“There was the red card and we were also down to 10 men when we conceded our first goal.
“Then you consider that Rado (Cierzniak) made a great save only for Kris Commons to get the rebound, I think you can say we were a bit unfortunate.
“I thought it was a penalty when Ryan Dow went down but the referee didn’t think so.
“Now I think the determination to defeat them on Wednesday has grown now but I felt a tweak in my other hamstring so I will have to wait to see if I can play in that one.”
