Dundee United have appealed Ryan McGowan’s red card in the dying minutes of Wednesday night’s Scottish Cup replay against Celtic.
The defender’s sending off was the sixth in the three clashes between the teams over the last fortnight.
Celtic manager Ronny Deila claimed that McGowan’s challenge on Liam Henderson “could have injured him for life”.
A statement from the tannadice club read: “Dundee United confirms that it has submitted an appeal to the Scottish FA relating to the dismissal for serious foul play of defender Ryan McGowan during the William Hill Scottish Cup quarter final replay versus Celtic on Wednesday.”
United have had plenty of success at Hampden disciplinary hearings recently, with Nadir Ciftci twice escaping a ban and Paul Paton also getting a red over-turned.
