Dundee have put their faith in the SFA to investigate the alleged bite on one of their players in Sunday’s Tayside derby.
Pictures taken at Tannadice in the closing stages of United’s 3-0 win show Nadir Ciftci’s face in contact with Jim McAlister’s leg as the United man is on the ground.
There has also been an image on social media which appears to show marks on McAlister’s leg.
The midfielder is understood to have gone straight to hospital after the match.
Chief Executive John Nelms spoke briefly on the incident, but made it clear that they want to see a full investigation carried out.
He said: “There is no place in football for actions like that.
“We refer the matter to the league. They will be informed this morning and we will wait and see what actions they will take.”
