Dundee United are understood to be tracking Airdrie midfielder Liam Watt.
The 22-year-old, who is presently on loan at Brechin City, is the Diamonds’ top goalscorer for the season.
He made the switch to Glebe Park recently after rejecting the offer of a full-time contract and has been playing a starring role in a late-season resurgence for Darren Dods’ men.
Watt, who played against United in their Scottish Cup tie earlier this season, joined Airdrie in 2012 and has scored 12 times in nearly 100 appearances.
It could be a double summer raid on young Airdrie talent for United, with a bid already having been lodged for young goalkeeper Rohan Ferguson.
The Tangerines have an ex-Airdrie presence on their backroom staff in goalkeeping coach Stuart Garden.
