There is unlikely to be a Merseyside bidding war for Dundee United’s Andrew Robertson, Courier Sport understands.
Everton’s interest in the full-back could soon be confirmed in the shape of a formal bid, but sources at Anfield suggest that Liverpool aren’t going to follow suit.
Both clubs have scouted Robertson and United’s other first team youngsters on several occasions. But the Reds’ interest in the 19-year-old has cooled.
Everton on the other hand, whose manager Roberto Martinez was at Tannadice on Sunday for the Hibs game, are serious suitors.
Word from Goodison is that a £750,000 bid could be tabled in the next few days.
There is no appetite from United to sell, however, particularly at that price.
Robertson recently signed a long-term contract and has been one of Jackie McNamara’s main attacking weapons in his short Tangerines career, as well as a solid defender.
If Martinez started talking about seven figure offers, rather than six, chairman Stephen Thompson’s resolve to hold on to the former Queen’s Park man will be more severely tested.
Swansea are also understood to be showing interest in Robertson but his representative Liam O’Donnell says he is in no rush to leave Tannadice.
O’Donnell says the Scotland Under-21 player is “perfectly happy” learning his trade on Tayside under Jackie McNamara.
The Pro Legal Group lawyer said: “A number of EPL clubs have been in contact regarding Andy.
“However, he will ignore the speculation and focus on continuing his development at Dundee United. He is perfectly happy at United .”
