Polish club Pogon Szczecin have targeted Dundee United keeper Radoslaw Cierzniak, who is out of contract in the next few weeks and looks set to leave Tannadice after three years.
Cierzniak has ambitions to play in England but could be tempted by a return to his homeland with big- spending Szczecin as they eye a tilt at the title next season.
Former United keeper Dusan Pernis had a spell with Szczecin who are looking to become a major force in the Polish top-flight.
Cierzniak was stretchered off late on in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Inverness and could be a doubt for Sunday’s game with Dundee at Tannadice.
The stopper injured his ribs as Gary Warren headed in the hosts’ third goal, and was replaced by Michael Szromnik.
Boss Jackie McNamara is hopeful that it isn’t too serious and said: “He’s sore, it was his ribs.
“It might just be bruising, hopefully not something more sinister. Hopefully he’ll be OK.”
Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara reckons it was tough for his young players to stand up to the physical presence of Inverness Caledonian Thistle in their 3-0 defeat at Caledonian Stadium on Saturday.
The Arabs lost three second half goals after battling well throughout the first half.
Josh Meekings, substitute Nick Ross and Gary Warren were the men on target for the Caley Jags, and the visitors were left to rue missed chances just before and just after half time.
The Tannadice men now need to win their derby clash at home to Dundee next weekend, and hope that St Johnstone slip up at Aberdeen if they’re to have any chance of snatching fourth place in the Scottish Premiership and possibly a place in the Europa League.
McNamara said: “We missed Callum Morris, they’re a strong, physical side, Inverness.
“We had five teenagers and it’s hard to put them in that environment when things aren’t going as well.
“It’s difficult but it’s all part of learning. They’re getting their chance, that’s the important thing.
“We’ll learn a lot from today and I’ve learned a lot from certain individuals.”
Goalkeeper Radoslaw Cierzniak was stretchered off late on after injuring his ribs, and was replaced by second choice stopper Michael Szromnik.
McNamara is hopeful that it isn’t too serious.
He said: “He’s sore, it was his ribs.
“It might just be bruising, hopefully not something more sinister. Hopefully he’ll be ok.”
He added: “It’s still all to play for next week, there’s one game left.
“Hopefully we’ll win, but we need to defend set pieces better.”
Inverness CT manager John Hughes believes his troops have given him a headache ahead of their Scottish Cup Final clash against Falkirk on May 30 at Hampden Park.
Next week they conclude their league campaign at Celtic, and Hughes said: “They’re the champions but our focus is now on the Scottish Cup Final.
“We’re up against a right good Falkirk side, were going to have to go and earn it.
“I’ve got a real headache on what to do against Celtic and then in the Scottish Cup Final.
“It’s roughly 75 per cent been the same team all season. I need to pick the right team that will win me the football match
“It’s a day out for the supporters, and we’re the favourites but I think it’s an even match. If we don’t perform, the cup will be going back to Falkirk.”
