Dundee United have signed former Liverpool striker Florent Sinama Pongolle, subject to international clearance.
Manager Mixu Paatelainen has confirmed the news, and Pongolle will have a chance of being included in the squad for Saturday’s clash with Hamilton Accies, should the is be dotted and ts crossed.
He has been training with United for a fortnight.
The former French international was highly rated as a kid at Liverpool where he spent five years between 2001 and 2006.
He did not quite make the grade but the 31-year-old’s CV includes spells at clubs like Atletico Madrid, Sporting Lisbon, Blackburn and Chicago Fire in the MLS.
Most recently he had a spell with Lausanne in Switzerland.
