Dundee United have confirmed that midfielder Chris Erskine has signed a pre-contract agreement with Partick Thistle.
Erskine joined the Tangerines from the Jags in the summer of 2013 in a double deal that also saw Paul Paton make the switch from Firhill to Tannadice.
He has made 63 appearances and scored 10 goals for United but has now agreed to return to his old club at the end of the season.
Erskine was left out of the starting line-up for Friday night’s 4-1 home defeat to Celtic but came on as a sub for Simon Murray with 17 minutes remaining.
The club stated: “Dundee United can confirm that Chris Erskine has signed a pre-contract agreement with Partick Thistle.”
Partick manager Alan Archibald, meanwhile, welcomed the news that Erskine will be winging his way back to Maryhill.
Archibald said: “We were aware of him being out of contract at the end of the season and Dundee United hadn’t made a move on it.
“We have went (sic) through the right channels and have that in place, and it’s a good one to look forward to for next season.”
Asked if Erskine could join Thistle during the January transfer window, Archibald replied: “That’s down to Dundee United.
“He’s their player and we have to respect that and we’ve just put that in place for next season.”
