Mixu Paatelainen has had plenty to deal with in his time as Dundee United already – now it’s a flu virus.
It will be a late team selection for Saturday’s Scottish Cup fifth round tie at home to Partick Thistle, with “quite a few” players prevented from training this week.
Paatelainen also has Callum Morris and Riku Riski sidelined through injury.
Meanwhile, the Tangerines boss spoke for the first time on John Souttar’s deadline day departure.
“It doesn’t affect us at all,” the manager said. “John obviously was an important figure in our squad and featured regularly on the pitch, but we are well covered for that position and other positions he played.
“It doesn’t affect us at all, we are as strong as before.”
On the transfer window as a whole, he said: “I’m happy with the squad, no problem at all.
“I think we have got good balance in the team, good cover in our squad for every position.
“Of course it’s one of those things, people are saying we never made a deadline day signing but who says that we are finished?
“We are constantly looking for players that are available and who would improve us. We are always contemplating options, there are plenty players out there.”
