Tommy Wright isn’t concerned whether Mixu Paatelainen has any of the trialists currently at Dundee United signed up in time for Saturday’s Tayside derby.
Gavin Gunning and Florent Sinama Pongolle could both be on the books of the Tannadice club and make their debuts against Saints.
And they could also have a couple of players back from injury.
But the Saints boss won’t be getting caught up in a United starting line-up guessing game.
“Mixu has a few trialists in from what I’ve seen but I don’t know if any are signed yet,” he said.
“But we won’t lose sleep over anyone. It doesn’t matter who the opposition put out because we focus on ourselves.
“And all we’re looking at is how to get a result this weekend.”
The Northern Irishman added: “United might get a good bit of benefit from it because they have a new manager and he will have spent that time putting across his ideas.
“I’m sure Mixu had his players working hard on things like shape and get his message across to them.
“The break in games was probably welcome for them because they have had the time to work on things.”
Wright doesn’t believe the two-week break will be a benefit or a hindrance to his own team.
“We try to use the international break wisely,” he said. “The lads got a few days off and we worked hard the rest of it.
“A lot is made of international breaks but I think too much is looked into what you do. We have given them more time off and lost, less time off and won and so on.
“I like to look at it in terms of the whole season; we want to make sure we’re finishing strongly again this year. So it’s about managing the players the best you can so they can produce for the whole season.
“The game after the international break is looked at too much. It’s a 10-month season.”
Saints have three experienced players on the sidelines.
“Simon Lappin, Graham Cummins and Liam Craig are all out,” Wright said.
“Chris Millar is back again. He’s played in an under-20s match, so he’s ready to go this weekend.
“He will be looking forward to getting back into the fold.”
