Sunday’s Scottish Cup semi-final with Celtic will come too soon for Dundee United striker Johnny Russell, manager Jackie McNamara has confirmed.
Russell is recovering from a fractured fibula sustained against Inverness at the end of February but although he has returned to training with the Tannadice club, he will not be fit enough to take on Neil Lennon’s side at Hampden.
Brian McLean and Keith Watson are also being monitored by McNamara after sustaining slight knocks in the past week but the boss is hopeful both could be involved.
