Dundee United midfielder Paul Paton insists Dundee United were robbed of at least a draw against Celtic on Saturday.
The 26-year-old has named the culprit who should have been wearing a mask and carrying a bag marked “swag” as the Hoops headed back to Glasgow with all three points as none other than Anthony Stokes.
With the game looking certain to end in a goalless draw with just minutes remaining, the Irish striker went down on the edge of the United box following a challenge by Stuart Armstrong.
Paton, who was close by when the incident took place, was then involved in an angry exchange with Stokes.
The United man was adamant the free-kick should never have been awarded and that referee Crawford Allan had been conned.
He said: “I was annoyed at their free-kick. It wasn’t me who made the tackle but I could see it was clearly a dive and there was no contact.
“But he still has to put the ball into the back of the net and did that superbly. It was unbelievable. We had a free-kick in a similar position but we hit the wall.
“That wee bit of difference is maybe why they are champions and we are not.
“I had a go at him (Stokes) but that is just part of the game I have a go at my own players as well,” he smiled.
“At the end of the day, he has gone down and put the ball in the top corner, what can you do about that? We can’t hold a grudge though. We just move on.”
