Manager Mixu Paatelainen is expecting Dundee United’s attack to hit the heights now that Eddie Ofere has arrived.
The 6 ft 2 in Nigeria international was snapped up by the Tangerines last weekend after being released by Turkish side Boluspor.
It will be a tall order for Ofere to fire United to Premiership safety in the weeks and months ahead but Paatelainen feels the ex-Inverness player can offer something extra to the forward line.
“Edward will add another dimension to our game,” said Paatelainen.
“We have been looking for a big striker for a while.
“Until now I have felt we have been a bit small up front and the crosses into the box have had to be kept low.
“But now we can hang crosses up and make runs off that, so it gives us another option.
“He is desperate to do well here and help the team.
“He scored goals in the Premiership last season for Inverness and knows the league, so that is a positive.
“Sometimes when players come to Scotland they can be shocked by the pace of the game but he knows what it’s all about and will link up well with our other strikers.
“We have quite a few options up front now, which is good to have as a manager.”
Paatelainen insisted he is still on the search for new faces despite recruiting Ofere.
“We are still looking for players and there will be other people out of contract at the moment too,” he said.
“It never stops.
“The board have been very helpful and have supported us to bring players in.
“If they say that’s it then that’s it, but they have been supportive. “
“It’s all about players.
“If you have good enough players you do well if not you will struggle.
“So you never stop looking for players to come in.”
Paatelainen’s next challenge is a trip to Hamilton Accies on Saturday.
The Tangerines carry some momentum, having won back-to-back matches against Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle.
The manager added: “Winning is always nice but the spirit has always been good.
“It makes your weekend so much easier when you win a match and your Saturday night is more enjoyable.
“After a game you are tired but the difference in the last few games is that you are happy and tired instead of spitting bullets.
“There is a big difference.
“You can enjoy your Saturday night a glass of wine tastes much better.
“But apart from that nothing has changed because the spirit was always good.
“We have a long, long way to go and everyone realises that.
“We have defended better, the boys have been excellent.
“To give yourself a chance you need to score and then defend well so I believe both parts of the team are looking better.”
