Dundee United have moved to replace the departing Ryan McGowan by bringing in 19-year-old West Ham full-back Kyle Knoyle on loan.
McGowan travelled to China on Thursday to wrap up a move to Henan Jianye, and manager Mixu Paatelainen has already sourced a replacement, although he will not be ready to feature in Saturday’s crucial Ladbrokes Premiership clash with Kilmarnock.
On McGowan’s imminent move, the United boss said: “Everything is moving on but the deal is not concluded.
“As soon as I get a shout that somebody might be moving, I start looking for replacements.

“We have acted already towards that and will probably act more.
“Players come and go, we get on with it.
“We have signed Kyle Knoyle on loan from West Ham so we have a replacement already. He’s a very bright prospect and a very positive player. He will be ready for next week.”
On reports that Charlie Telfer could follow Aidan Connolly in leaving the club, the Finn said: “Just rumours, there’s nothing in it.”
