Ex-Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara is new manager of York City

Former Dundee United boss Jackie McNamara has been announced as the new manager of York City.

The 42-year-old who parted company with the Tangerines last month, emerged as a leading contender to take over from Russ Wilcox in the Bootham Crescent hot seat at the weekend.

McNamara, who has also managed Partick Thistle, will take charge of a York side sitting third bottom of League Two and without a win in their last five games.

Simon Donnelly, who was McNamara’s assistant at the Jags and United, will once again be his No.2 at York.
