Dundee United have refused the two-game suspension offered to Nadir Ciftci after he was issued with a notice of complaint by the SFA.
Already suspended for the League Cup final against Celtic on March 15, the striker is now in danger of missing all three of the club’s big games against the Hoops.
If the complaint is upheld by the governing body at a hearing at Hampden on Thursday, March 5, Ciftci will be banned for the following Sunday’s home Scottish Cup quarter-final against the Hoops and then the Premiership game at Celtic Park on March 21.
That is because the suspension would come into effect irrespective of competition.

Ciftci is accused of fouling opponent Gary Warren during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw against Inverness Caley Thistle.
The allegation is that he breached disciplinary rule 200 as follows: “In that at the above match you committed an act of violent conduct and deliberately struck an opposing player upon his neck or head with your arm.”
He had until 3pm this Friday in which to respond but the club was quick off the mark to say they had rejected the SFA’s two-match offer and would instead be defending their player.
