Dundee United are in the hunt to land former Rangers duo Danny Wilson and Kris Boyd.
The Tangerines stepped in to speak to ex-Liverpool central defender Wilson after news broke that his proposed move to Hearts had collapsed due to the Jam Tarts’ slide into administration.
The 21-year-old Scotland international was on loan from Anfield to Tynecastle last season and the deal would have become permanent.
However, the Edinburgh club’s financial crisis meant an embargo and ban on registering players scuppered the transfer.
Now the Tangerines are looking to offer the undoubtedly talented Wilson he is a former Scottish young player of the year an opportunity to resurrect his career at Tannadice.
United are also in the market for an experienced striker and it is understood 29-year-old Boyd, who signed a short-term deal with Kilmarnock last season, fits the bill for boss Jackie McNamara.
They are among a group of players interesting United as they prepare to return for pre-season training on Monday.
The Tannadice club remain keen on landing former striker David Goodwillie on loan from Blackburn Rovers but his employers are relaxed about keeping him at Ewood Park until what they deem to be a suitable offer comes in. United won’t budge from the offer they have already made.
Also a trialist is expected to arrive at their St Andrews base next week.
