Paddy Connolly’s son could be about to follow in his father’s footsteps and sign for Dundee United.
Tangerines’ boss Jackie McNamara has confirmed that they have made promising Queen’s Park youngster Aidan Connolly an offer to move to Tannadice.
The 17-year-old schoolboy has had an impressive first season in the Third Division. The Hampden side had hoped to convince Connolly to remain at their club for another season but it is understood he is now United-bound.
Paddy was a popular striker at United who played in their Scottish Cup final defeat to Motherwell.
Spiders’ head coach Gardner Speirs said: “We have been told from Aidan’s representatives that he is looking to complete a move to Dundee United.
“Unfortunately no one from Dundee United has been in touch with us about our player so we are waiting to see what happens.”
McNamara said: “He is a player we like and we have made him an offer. He is away to speak to his dad and we are now waiting to hear from him.
“But there are other clubs interested in signing him, including ones in England, so we will have to wait and see.”
