Dundee United willing to listen to offers for teenage stars
ByEric Nicolson
Dundee United would be willing to listen to offers for highly-rated young stars Ryan Gauld and John Souttar.
English Championship sides are showing an interest in the duo, and we understand that United have told the players’ agent that they would let them move on if the price is right.
Johnny Russell is expected to leave Tannadice this summer, with Italian Serie A club Catania leading the race for his signature.
And it would also come as no surprise if fellow Scotland squad member Gary Mackay-Steven became the subject of bids from south of the border or Glasgow.
Sixteen-year-old defender Souttar and 17-year-old attacker Gauld have just broken into the first team, and both signed long-term deals last season.
The teenagers came to national prominence with their performances in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic, but both had been knocking on the first-team door at Tannadice for some time.
The pair have been almost inseparable coming through the youth ranks and have signed contracts tying them to the club until January 2016.
