DUNDEE UNITED boss Peter Houston watched his team let another two points slip against St Johnstone yesterday, and admitted life in the Tangerines’ dug-out is “hard work” at the moment.
The home team have found wins hard to come by on their own pitch and the Tayside derby was the latest in a long line of draws in the City of Discovery this season.
United got off to the perfect start with a Gavin Gunning goal in just two minutes, but Saints fought back to equalise through a Brian McLean own goal just after the re-start.
Houston said: “It was a very open game and an entertaining one for the punters but it’s hard work being the United manager at the moment. In the first half big Gav (Gunning) could have had a hat-trick of headers.
“We’re playing some good football and are attack minded, but at the same time we’re not killing teams off. I felt with the chances we had we could have been comfortably ahead at half-time.
“St Johnstone to their credit came out and got their goal, which wasn’t a defensive mistake and was unfortunate. I’m disappointed that with all we put into the game we didn’t get the win.
“I’m pleased with the players’ attitude and commitment but it’s games like today’s that we should be winning.”
