St Johnstone’s search for new striker moves forward

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright’s search for a new striker was expected to take a significant step forward when he was due to hold talks with chairman Steve Brown.

The green light should be given and there could be a new face in the squad in time for Saturday’s match against United.

Wright confirmed: “I have a meeting planned with the chairman and have a list of two or three options.

“I’m hoping to get someone in as soon as possible. It will be a short-term thing.

“I have spoken to three players and they are aware of what we are looking for.

“I will speak to the chairman, see what we have available money-wise and take it from there.”
