St Johnstone midfielder Davidson should be out short-term

Fears that St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson would be facing another long-term lay-off appear to have eased.
When the Perth man went down after landing awkwardly early in the weekend clash with Celtic, captain Dave Mackay admitted it went through his mind it could be a recurrence of Davidson’s serious knee injury.
But, even though he was able to play no further part in the match, there was relief post-match that this time it’s a calf problem.
And both Mackay and manager Tommy Wright are now keeping their fingers crossed that this time it will be a short spell on the sidelines for the former Livingston player.
Mackay said: “I don’t think Murray’s injury is too bad. It’s his calf. He’s maybe pulled it or strained it, so it’ll probably be short-term.
“When you see him go down you worry in case it’s his knee but thankfully it was just his calf and hopefully he’ll be back soon.”
Wright added: “He’s done it when he’s jumped up for a header and landed. We’ll get it assessed on Monday but let’s hope it’s just a couple of weeks.”
