Murray Davidson has revealed that watching him play football has become torture for his parents.
The memories of the serious knee injury their boy sustained in an awkward fall last season are still fresh in the minds of Ronnie and Liz Davidson.
So when he went up for a header against Celtic and came down in pain, the initial reaction was to suspect it had happened all over again.
Thankfully, the injury was to his calf and has proved to be far less serious than last time, confirmation of which is expected to be given by medics today.
Davidson said: “People were fearing the worst when they saw me leaving the stadium on crutches. But that was purely precautionary.
“I got a lot of messages over the weekend saying, ‘oh no, it’s not your knee again, is it?’
“My mum and dad were at the game and they panic every time I go down.
“Mum and dad must find it hard to watch. Dad’s always telling me not to go into any stupid tackles.
“Every time I go down now, they’re watching through their fingers.
“They could probably only relax and enjoy the game after I came off!
“I know from speaking to the likes of Steven MacLean, his family find it hard watching a game as well.
“It will maybe get easier for them after I’m back for a few months.”
He added: “I did my knee when I was jumping and that was what happened this time. But, thankfully, it wasn’t my knee again.
“It was a lot better on Monday and I’m hopeful that I got off on time.
“I felt like it was going to pop and there was no way I could continue.
“It’s actually the first real muscle injury I’ve had so I didn’t know what it was. It felt like cramp, but I knew it couldn’t be that because it was only five minutes into the game.
“I did the right thing coming off, that’s for sure.”
It used to be the case that any injuries Davidson picked up were as a result of flying into tackles others would steer clear of.
“I’m never going to change my style of play now,” the former Livingston man admitted. “But the injury was as a result of jumping for a header. It was just one of these things.
“I was gutted on Saturday night because I’m just back into the team. But I’m hoping I got off in time and it’s a just a grade one.
“Touch wood for good news.”
