Stevie May has been backed to hit 20 goals this season after an inspirational midweek display for Sheffield Wednesday.
The former St Johnstone favourite, who made a £800,000 summer switch to Hillsborough, netted his second goal for the Owls in a 2-0 win at Birmingham on Tuesday evening.
It capped an all-action display from the 21-year-old, who has become an immediate fans’ favourite south of the border.
And Wednesday manager Stuart Gray believes the goals will keep flowing from his new star striker.
Gray lauded: “I’m sure if we create chances for him he can get up to that 20-goal mark.
“He’s a centre-forward who will score goals as he has proven in Scotland and that performance will give him confidence going into the Reading game.
“He created something out of nothing against Birmingham and we know Stevie has got that in him.
“His work off the ball and defending for the team was fantastic. I can’t fault his effort and commitment he puts in for the teams. He runs himself into the ground.”
Meanwhile, May’s impressive start to life at Wednesday has gained him a celebrity fan.
TV presenter and England cricket legend Michael Vaughan, who is an avid supporter of the Owls, posted a picture of May celebrating his strike on Instagram, with the caption: “Poetry in motion….Stevie May.”
