St Johnstone midfielder Scott Brown stands a good chance of being available for the Perth club’s clash with Kilmarnock next weekend.
Brown left McDiarmid Park with his ankle in a protective boot for the second time in the last few weeks following the St Mirren defeat.
The last time – after the loss to Dundee – he was sidelined for a fortnight.
However, manager Tommy Wright reported that it is responding well to treatment this week.
Meanwhile, the Saints squad are making good use of the international break, according to defender Brian Easton.
He said: “We’ll take this opportunity to work on fitness before a couple of days off. Then we’ll get prepared for our next match.”
And, when they do return to action, high on the list of priorities is improving their home form.
“It hasn’t been as strong as we would like,” Easton admitted.
“We’re not doing well enough, but it is still relatively early days in the season.”
Easton and the rest of the Saints squad will be watching Scotland’s clash with Georgia on Saturday evening, hoping that their former team-mate, Stevie May, gets his first cap.
He said: “There are a lot of good Scottish strikers just now but I’d love to see Stevie get some game-time. The main thing is that Scotland get the win, but it would be great if he’s part of it.
“If he continues the way he’s going, he can be a regular for Scotland in the future.”
