St Johnstone look to make amends for lacklustre performance

St Johnstone’s Chris Iwelumo insists a back-to-basics approach will secure his side’s place in the Premiership top six.
Saints suffered a shock home defeat against Ross County on Saturday with McDiarmid boss Tommy Wright later criticising his players’ lacklustre performance.
Iwelumo, who was at the centre of some last-gasp controversy which saw a Steven Anderson “goal” chalked off, admits that the squad will be looking to make amends next week against Hibs.
Terry Butcher’s side are sitting in seventh place in the table and Saints know that a win over the Edinburgh outfit next week will cement their spot in the top half of the Premiership after the split.
Iwelumo said: “We just have to make sure that we get back to doing the basics properly. That’s something that we are very good at and that’s why we have been doing so well.”
He added: “The Hibs game is a massive one, as they all are. The gaffer says we are in the driving seat and our destiny is in our own hands.”
