St Johnstone to offer Liam Craig chance to end Easter Road misery
ByEric Nicolson
St Johnstone are set to offer Liam Craig the chance to return to McDiarmid Park.
Courier Sport understands that the Easter Road captain will be a summer signing target of Perth boss Tommy Wright.
The Saints manager only has two, three at the most, spaces to fill in his squad, and one of them is for a left-footed midfielder.
Craig loved his time at McDiarmid and parted on good terms at the end of the 2012/13 season after agreeing a pre-contract with Hibs. He started off his Edinburgh career promisingly and was a regular on the scoresheet.
But things have unraveled since. First he was dropped by Terry Butcher and then, after being restored to the team, he couldn’t help prevent relegation.
Ironically, while Craig has enjoyed the worst season of his career following his switching from Saints for Hibs, David Wotherspoon has enjoyed the best of his after moving in the opposite direction.
