St Johnstone have drawn Alashkert FC of Armenia in the first round of the Europa League qualifiers. The first leg is away on July 2, and the return in Perth a week later The club play in the capial city of Yerevan and their stadium has a capacity of 6,800. Aside from the logistical travel problems for Saints’ fans, the tie is one they would expect to negotiate. Alashkert were fourth in their league and have the second lowest coefficient in the Europa League. If Saints progress past the first round they will face Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) of Serbia or Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan in the second round. They will be away first (July 16), then back at McDiarmid on July 23.
