Player of the year Chris Millar is set to miss St Johnstone’s Thurdsay night Europa League opener.
The influential midfielder didn’t kick a ball in the Perth side’s two pre-season matches in Northern Ireland as a result of a hamstring injury, and was absent again for yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Glebe Park.
Millar, Steven Anderson and Graham Cummins – also non-starters so far – will be assessed today before a final decision is made on who boards the plane to Armenia.
Saints boss Tommy Wright explained: “Midge has got a bit of a hamstring problem.
“The likelihood is Ando will travel.
“Midge is more of a worry. We’ll give him another 24 hours but, with the travelling involved, he’s a doubt.
“Graham has picked up a knock and will be checked out as well.”
Wright deployed Tam Scobbie in Millar’s midfield slot for 45 minutes yesterday.
He said: “Scobbie is versatile.
“He played in there as the midfield anchor against Glenavon and has played there for 10 minutes in one of the European matches.
