St Johnstone have been paired with Aberdeen in the League Cup semi-final draw at Hampden.
Tommy Wright’s side edged through in their quarter-final tie on Wednesday night against Morton with a solitary Gary McDonald goal deep into stoppage time the crucial counter for Saints.
They will now face a Dons side managed by former McDiarmid boss Derek McInnes and this is the first time that St Johnstone and Aberdeen have contested a semi-final in either of the two major national cup competitions.
The other semi-final will see Hearts face Inverness with the ties set to take place on Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2.
The matches will be held at neutral venues yet to be decided as Hampden Park will be out of commission as it undergoes work for next year’s Commonwealth Games.
