St Johnstone defender Frazer Wright has said he can enjoy his holiday now that his future has been sorted out.
Last year, Wright had to have his phone by his sun lounger as he waited to hear whether or not he would be staying at McDiarmid Park.
It turned out well in the end for the former Kilmarnock man, with a one-year deal finally coming his way.
However, Wright, 34, didn’t like the uncertainty and that is why he was so happy to say yes to a 12-month extension on his contract earlier this week.
“I am delighted to get it sorted out nice and early,” said Wright.
“Last year I was away on holiday at the end of May and was making phone calls back home trying to get everything sorted. I can look forward to the summer now.
“It makes a huge difference to me because I have security to the end of next season. It gets rid of any uncertainty.
“There was never any doubt about it and it was an easy decision for me. I enjoy being here and get on really well with the gaffer Tommy Wright and assistant boss Callum Davidson.
“They treat me really well and I appreciate that. Also, it is great time to be a St Johnstone player. Every year I have been here there has been progression and we are still in the Scottish Cup and have the top six to aim for.”
Wright began his career with Stranraer, making more than 200 appearances for the Blues before joining Killie in the summer of 2011 on a free transfer.
He played 180 times for the Rugby Park club before being snapped up by then Perth boss Derek McInnes.
