St Johnstone are set to offer striker Graham Cummins a new contract.
The Irishman has been a big hit at McDiarmid Park since arriving on a one-year deal in the summer.
As well as scoring four goals, the former Preston North End player has provided many more and has beaten off strong competition to become a first team regular.
And, as far as Saints boss Tommy Wright is concerned, Cummins has shown more than enough to prove he’s worth an extended deal.
“The chairman and I have already discussed a new contract for Graham,” he reported.
“We have a few players coming out of contract and he is certainly one we will be speaking to about a new deal.
“He has four goals but he could quite easily have double that figure. Against Morton he might have had three but their keeper had great saves and he hit the bar early on.
“The partnership he has formed with Macca has been really productive. He has had a lot of assists.”
Wright added: “Bringing in Sutty over the summer was less of a risk because we know his track record in Scottish football. Graham was new to it.
“He has pleased me because I knew there were goals in him from his time at Cork. He didn’t get a fair crack of the whip and was played out of position when he went to England.
“I felt if he came here and he was played in the right role he would get goals.
“He is a good all-round striker. He is quick, he has a great leap on him and times his jumps every well despite not being way over six foot. He also has great movement and he’s a strong player.
“Graham has proved a really good signing for us.”
