St Johnstone are determined to transform their League Cup desolation into Scottish Cup celebration, according to Lee Croft.
The Perth midfielder has backed his team-mates to recover from their 4-0 semi-final defeat to Aberdeen at the weekend by winning at Forfar on Saturday to take themselves within one game of another last-four appearance.
Croft, who passed up Saints’ best chance of the match when the score was just 1-0, said: “We have to use the result to spur us on. We’re going home disappointed. The lads are devastated as I’m sure the fans will be.
“It’s up to us to make that right and put a smile back on everyone’s faces and get some results under our belt after this.
“We’ve done well to get here. It was a disappointing result but we’re doing alright in the league and we’re still in the Scottish Cup as well. We just need to kick on and go further in the other cup.”
Manager Tommy Wright insisted his players will be ready to go at Station Park.
“It won’t be hard to lift them,” he pointed out. “They’re a great bunch of pros. They are disappointed but we’ll bounce back.
“We’ve still got a lot to play for this season and they want to be using this as motivation to get back into national semi-finals and finals. We’re already starting to think about next week’s game.”
