Goalkeeper Zander Clark has signed a contract extension with St Johnstone.
The 23-year-old’s new deal sees him sign on at McDiarmid Park until the end of season 2017/2018.
Clark made his first team debut when he came on for the red carded Alan Mannus against Dundee United and he followed that up with his first starting appearance in Saturday’s memorable 5-1 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
He said: “I’m delighted to have my immediate future sorted and I’m now able to concentrate on challenging for that starting jersey on a regular basis. The deal was agreed a couple of days before the Dundee United game so it’s been a special couple of weeks for me.”
Manager Tommy Wright is delighted to have secured the extended services of the six foot five inch goalkeeper who made a big impression on loan with Queen of the South last season.
He said: “I’ve said from the start of this season that I have two number one keepers at my disposal and that’s a great position to be in.
“We’ve been speaking to Zander for a few weeks and agreed the deal just before the Dundee United match so there was an irony that a couple of days later Zander got his chance due to Alan’s sending off.
“He did well that day and again at Pittodrie and I am delighted the club has been able to extend his contract.”
