The rest of the St Johnstone team are determined to start sharing the goal-scoring burden with Stevie May.
You have to go back five league games at the turn of the year for the last time anyone else in Saints’ blue found the net.
Winger Lee Croft insisted there are plenty of his team-mates who can step up to the plate to get the goals flowing again for the Perth men, after the second successive dry weekend.
And he’s one of them.
Croft, who is likely to come back into the starting line-up for the match against Motherwell tonight, admitted: “It’s quite dry if Stevie isn’t scoring at the moment.
“Last time I was here I scored a few goals. Maybe I should have opened my account already in the semi-final.
“We need to help out Mayso, not just with scoring goals but also with the service to him. That wasn’t the best at the weekend.
“We probably didn’t get balls into the box and play to the strengths of Chris (Iwelumo) when he came on as well.
“We’ve got creative players, and players with pace. We’re an attacking team. It’s about turning the chances into goals and the goals into results.”
Croft revealed he was left on the bench against Inverness Caley Thistle as a precaution.
“The manager spoke to me last week and said that he thought he would give me a rest at the weekend,” he explained.
“Hopefully I’ll be back in tomorrow. I’d been out for a good seven months and have just played five games on the bounce.”
The priority against Motherwell will be setting the right tone from the start.
Croft said: “Before the (Inverness) game the last thing the gaffer said before we went out was ‘start right’.
“The idea was to put them under pressure from the first minute, but we ended up doing the complete opposite.
“They’re a hard team to break down, so once they got the goal it was always going to be a tough job.
“We were the better side once we got the ball down but the damage had been done.”
The visitors look a long way in the distance, as do Dundee United, and Saturday’s defeat has sharpened the focus on sealing sixth place before the split.
He pointed out: “We need to make sure we get into the top six then hopefully you can make up points on the teams above you when you play them all.
“The important bit is getting sixth and close the gap as much as we can.”
