He’s Irish born and bred and the last couple of years of his career have been spent in the English lower leagues.
But St Johnstone’s new signing Graham Cummins doesn’t need a crash course on the Perth club’s recent history – Chris Millar has already brought him up to speed.
Cummins and Saints’ player of the year are class-mates on a media course at college, and Millar isn’t keeping quiet in the corner of the classroom.
Infact, the only surprise is that “Midge” hasn’t done a show and tell with his Scottish Cup winners’ medal.
“I do a journalism course with Chris Millar so he’s spoken about the club a lot,” Cummins revealed.
“He kept reminding me every time I saw him that he’d won a trophy!”
Cummins will arrive at Saints for pre-season with the club still on a high, after clinching fourth place in the Premiership.
And the former Preston North End and Exeter City man is keen to make sure the good times keep coming.
“Now I’m here, I’d love the chance to do something similar next season,” he said.
“Growing up in Ireland everyone has an interest in Scottish football so I know a bit about the game here.
“The club has done well in the last few seasons so I’d just like to be part of keeping that going.
“I have been keeping an eye on St Johnstone’s results because I’ve known there was a chance of the move happening for a few weeks.
“I was up a while back to meet the staff and met the other players as well.
“The manager is very positive and genuine, so I feel I can have a very good relationship with him.
“He has been keeping in contact with me for a while now, he’s made me feel wanted.
“The atmosphere in the dressing-room has been very good, the lads seem like my kind of characters.
“I know this is going to be a place I enjoy coming into every day to work.”
Cummins certainly has the hunger manager Tommy Wright looks for in his new signings.
He added: “Things were a bit stop start at Exeter, I played a lot at the start of the season but didn’t get as many games as I could.
“I’m eager to prove myself here and show everyone I can score goals.
“I got promoted with Rochdale and have played for Preston as well, so I have been in England for a few years.
“My best time in football came when I was with Cork, that was down to confidence and being happy.
“That’s the vibe I got when I came up to St Johnstone, I believe I can play my best football here.
“I will be trying to score as many goals as I can, I know I can do it because I’ve scored 42 goals in 60 games before.
“I believe I can get back to that sort of form for St Johnstone.”
