St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright should learn more today about the severity of Murray Davidson’s latest knee injury.
The Perth midfielder only completed 45 minutes against Hamilton Accies on Saturday after doing damage to the same knee that was operated on last season.
Wright revealed however that it was a different type of injury to the one caused by an awkward landing over a year ago.
“Murray picked up a knock,” Wright reported.
“We don’t know if it’s serious. We’ll assess it and take it from there.
“It happened when he stretched.”
It’s been a stop-start few months for Davidson since he returned from his long lay-off.
The former Livingston man sustained concussion and an eye injury at Ibrox and then strained his calf against Celtic.
He has been getting back to the Murray Davidson of old, and Wright will be keeping his fingers crossed he has the Scotland international available for the Premiership run-in.
Meanwhile, midfielder Simon Lappin insisted that Saints aren’t daunted by a trip to face in-form Ross County tomorrow night, where a win would seal their top six place with a game to spare.
He said: “Ross County had another great result at Tannadice. They’re on a brilliant run of form.
“But we’ll concentrate on ourselves, approach it the right way and hopefully get a positive result.
“Any time I’ve gone up there in years gone by it’s always been a hard, hard game and I’m sure this one will be no different.
“There’s not too much needing changed. It’s just about grinding out results at this stage of the season. And that’s what we’ll aim to do in Dingwall.”
