Steven Anderson will equal the St Johnstone all-time appearance record when he plays against Ross County tomorrow night.
And his manager believes the Scottish Cup final hero could go on to post a total that will stand the test of time.
Tommy Wright, who revealed that he hopes to tie Anderson down on a new long-term contract, said of the man who will tie Alan Main on 361 games for the Perth club: “Ando has been a great servant to the club down the years but there is still plenty left in the tank.
“He looks a lot older but Ando is still a relatively young man.
“For anyone to play that number of games for any club in this day and age is testament to Steven.
“He could well go on to set a record that will never be beaten. He is totally committed to the club.
“Ando has been captain recently with Dave Mackay being out and Chris Millar being in and out. He doesn’t actually like being skipper. He likes to get his own job done. He is a player who just likes defending.
“He likes a moan but he wants to win, in games and in training. He prides himself on keeping clean sheets. He is a proper defender, one of a dying breed.
“There is a one year option in his contract and we have already started talks about extending it further.”
