St Johnstone defender Ally Gilchrist is hoping that Perth side and Peterhead can agree to extend his loan deal at Balmoor and allow him to play in the Petrofac Training Cup Final against Rangers.
The 20-year-old has been on loan to the Blue Toon since July, and scored the winner in their 4-3 success over Airdrie on Saturday.
Now he wants to stay and hopefully play in the April final.
Gilchrist said: “I am due to go back to St Johnstone early in the new year but I hope my deal can be extended. I am enjoying myself at Peterhead and learning all the time. I learned a bit on loan at Elgin last season but I have learned even more now.
“If the clubs can agree to extend it until the end of the season that would be terrific. That would allow me to be involved in the Petrofac Final and what an experience that promises to be.”
