The St Johnstone goal drought is no cause for panic, according to Liam Craig.
In the last four games the Perth men have failed to find the net, but Craig believes it would be a bigger concern if the strikers had been feeding off scraps.
“Scoring goals got us in the position we’re in at the moment so obviously we need to get back to that,” the former Hibs midfielder said.
“But there’s no need to panic.
“We’re creating loads of chances. In the games against Celtic, Hearts and then Killie last weekend we’ve had lots of opportunities to score.
“So it’s just a case of being a bit more clinical and maybe relaxing a bit in front of goal.
“With the amount we’re creating and the players we have, we’ll get scoring goals again soon enough.”
Craig added: “Graham Cummins is back now and Sutty played well when he came on, so we have plenty of firepower.
“Chris Kane and Macca (Steven MacLean) have done well this season, so there are plenty of players in our attack who can score goals.
“We have the creativity and the goals in us.
“The one thing this team never does is get carried away when things are going well or get too down when they’re not.
“So nobody here is concerned, we know what we’re capable of and we’re focused on getting back to winning ways this weekend.”
Craig missed Saints’ Scottish Cup defeat to Kilmarnock on Saturday after injuring his hamstring in training.
He expects to be back in the squad for the visit of Hamilton Accies to McDiarmid Park.
“I just felt something last Thursday so the game at the weekend came too soon,” Craig said.
“But I have been working with the physio and I’m optimistic I’ll be fine for this Saturday.
“I thought it was worse initially but it settled down quickly.
“It’s frustrating watching from the stand, especially when you get a disappointing result.
“Jamie MacDonald is my mate but even he will admit he got a bit of luck at the end with that triple save.
“But we’re out of the cup now and we have to just focus on the league and then the League Cup at the end of the month.
“We are still in a good position and the lads just can’t wait to get going again.”
