St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has made a shortlist of four for the SPFA Manager of the Year award.
The Northern Irishman has been nominated along with Neil Lennon, Derek McInnes and Stuart McCall.
This is Wright’s first season in charge at McDiarmid Park, after taking over from Steve Lomas in the summer.
He got off to a flying start by seeing off Rosenborg in a Europe League qualifier, before going out in the next round.
Saints have made the top six in the league for the third year in a row, and were knocked out in the League Cup semi-final.
But Wright’s stand-out achievement has been guiding the Perth club into their first ever Scottish Cup final.
The former goalkeeper has been flattered by the recognition, but stressed: “It’s not about me, it’s about the players and the people around you.
“It’s a team effort here and that’s what it’s all about.
“If people give you recognition then it’s all well and good.
“The main thing, really, is for the chairman here to think I’m the best manager he could have!
“If the chairman is happy and the St Johnstone supporters are happy, then that’s the main thing.
“I’m answerable to the chairman, that’s the way I’ve always worked.
“I make the decision on the players and he makes the decision on the manager.
“It’s the same for the players, they get a lot from social media these days and a lot of outside influences.
“Some of it is positive and some of it is negative, but I keep telling them that the only people they need to worry about is myself, Callum Davidson and Alec Cleland.
“We see what they do every day and know how much effort they’re putting in.”
He added: “If you look at it there could be half a dozen guys who deserve to win the Manager of the Year award.
“Neil Lennon has won the title again at Celtic, while Stuart McCall has done a magnificent job at Motherwell.
“Stuart has lost big players again but has maintained high standards and kept them very consistent.
“Derek McInnes has resurrected Aberdeen and Jackie McNamara has done really well at Dundee United.
“Then at the other end, Alan Archibald has got results at Partick Thistle even though plenty of people thought they’d be a shoo-in for 11th place.
“And then there’s Gary Locke, who has had loads of problems to deal with at Hearts and has handled himself very well.
“So you could make a case for plenty of guys because there are so many managers doing really good work this season.”
