St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has suggested Europa League opponents FC Minsk are beatable after doing his homework and studying all the DVDs at his disposal.
Saints arrived in Belarus yesterday ahead of tonight’s first leg in the western city of Grodno perhaps lacking in the preparation Wright would have wanted, having been denied the chance to see the Belarus side in person.
Problems with visas, which are likely to mean Saints will have little or no travelling support behind them in the Neman Stadium, and a quick turnaround after last week’s tie have contributed to Saints having to rely on dossiers from Valletta, the side Minsk defeated in the previous round.
But after wading through all the footage he could lay his hands on, Wright is convinced his men can return home in a strong position ahead of next week’s second leg in Perth.
“I think they will be well organised, they will be difficult to beat and they have got one or two players with a bit of pace up front,” he told Courier Sport.
“They will be tough and it will be tough out here but if we concentrate on what we can do and build on or maintain the levels we set against Rosenborg it’s a tie we can go into with a lot of confidence.
“I think I’ve got enough information about them now.”
