St Johnstone midfielder Scott Brown has signed a new one-year contract.
The 20-year-old made a big impact at the start of the season, both domestically and in Europe, and he’s still hoping to book-end the campaign by winning back his place after a long spell out of the first team.
“It is good to get next year sorted,” he said. “Now it is about working hard and trying to get back in the team after a frustrating spell.
“I was playing at the start of the season but my ankle injury came at the wrong time and I can’t complain because the lads have been doing well.
“It has been a mixed season. Overall I can look back and say I started 13 or 14 games, maybe more, in my first season. And played in Europe.
“But the games were nearer the start.
“Hopefully I will get games before the end of the season.”
Brown has made sure that his time in the stand hasn’t been a waste.
“It’s good to watch guys like Muzz (Murray Davidson) and Midge (Chris Millar) who are playing really well just now,” he explained.
“They are experienced players and I am trying to add things I see to my own game. The manager obviously sees something about them to start them every week.
“I have to add bits to my game and the manager is supportive.
“It is about working hard and hopefully my time will come again.
Tommy Wright added: “Scott has extended for another season and I’m pleased about that. It has been a difficult time for him because he has been out of the team. But that doesn’t take away the fact I think he has had a good season.
“He has made a lot of starts and he played in Europe. Scott’s form did dip but he is back banging on the door again.
“He is an important member of the squad and I’m glad to get him for another year.”
